Digital Dehumanisation

Digital dehumanisation is a process where humans are reduced to data, which is then used to make decisions and/or take actions that negatively affects their lives.

With growing Digital Dehumanisation, the Stop Killer Robots coalition works to ensure human control in the use of force. Our campaign calls for new international law on autonomy in weapons systems.

Join us over the next few months, as Stop Killer Robots campaigner Hayley chats with a host of interesting people to get to grips with Digital Dehumanisation: what it is, what it means for you and the world as a whole and how we can take a stand against it.

To tackle digital dehumanisation, we must think creatively. We have the opportunity to build something different. The outcomes do not have to be within the guidelines of what technology can do today, because we can build machines in a new way.

How we created a virtual human...

(and got AI to interview itself on AI, Autonomy and Digital Dehumanisation)

“WE SHOULD HAVE A MONTH WHERE EVERYTHING IS MADE AND PRESENTED BY AI?!?” I excitedly proclaimed. “Show how dehumanising some of these technologies can be, first-hand!”

And silence ensued…

In fairness, it sounded ridiculous. Having access to an AI and then having it create engaging, accurate and importantly, factual content – that was the sort of thinking that was decades away.

But…
