Conflicted Intelligence: How universities can help prevent the development of lethal autonomous weapons

This report investigates how universities are contributing to the development of autonomous weapons.

The main aim of this report is to raise awareness of the issue of lethal autonomous weapons among students, university staff and faculty and anyone else interested in the issue, particularly within a university context. Indeed, there is concern that unless universities develop proper policies, some technologies not intended for battlefield use may ultimately end up being used in weapon systems.

This publication can be found on the PAX website here.

Given that research undertaken by universities may end up being used in military applications, with particular concerns relating to autonomous weapon systems, academia has a role to play in preventing the development of such weapon systems. I
